Great Southern Rail Trail

This 44 kilometre smooth gravel rail trail can be ridden in two key sections, Leongatha-Koonwarra and Meeniyan-Foster. This mostly flat or gently undulating trail passes through lush dairy farmland, areas of remnant bush and lowland scrub. It climbs from the foothills of Fish Creek to the peak of Mount Hoddle and then down a steep descent through dense forest with magnificent views of Wilsons Promontory.

South Gippsland Tourist Railway

Running historic diesel locomotives and railcars between Leongatha and Korumburra along a steep and winding track with spectacular views of farmland and bushland, the train trip offers great views and a great destination.  Trains usually run every Sunday with additional services on Wednesdays during school holidays.

South Gippsland SPLASH

The region's premier health and recreational facility has several pools, a multi-purpose indoor sports stadium and cafe and is located adjacent to the Leongatha Motel.

Leongatha Golf Club

Situated 10 minutes south of Leongatha Leongatha Golf Club is a beautiful 18 hole course in a natural bush setting with practice facilities, a licensed clubhouse and bar. A classic Vern Morcom design that has been a hidden treasure in Victoria’s South Gippsland region for far too long, it is a scenic layout that covers terrain from hilly to gently rolling with wide santa-ana couch fairways flanked by natural bushland.  The greens are also a surprise for a visiting golfer.  They are beautifully maintained and feature subtle contouring.

Woorayl Golf Club

The Woorayl Golf Club is located at the rear of the Leongatha Recreational Reserve.  This 9-hole course of 5789 metres is slightly undulating and lightly bunkered, is an all weather course, which is in excellent condition all year round.Located approximately 1 kilometre from the Leongatha town centre, the course has a large selection of native trees. The moderately tight fairways and raised greens will test the keenest golfer.  Woorayl Golf Club has its annual tournament in mid to late March each year.

Lyric Theatre

Established in 1965, the theatre brings the best shows of Broadway to South Gippsland with its schedule of productions.  Since Lyric Theatre’s formation, productions have included musicals ranging from Gilbert & Sullivan’s Trial By Jury to Fiddler on The Roof, Godspell, Canterbury Tales and Jesus Christ Superstar; pantomimes; plays ranging from Twelve Angry Men to Stepping Out, Educating Rita and The Rainmaker; touring variety productions; and youth theatre pieces such as Bats, Hating Alison Ashley, and King MacBee And The Walking Trees.

Grand Ridge Brewery

Grand Ridge Brewery is one of Australia’s first and most recognised craft breweries.  A 100% Australian, family owned company, the brewery is housed in an old butter factory in Mirboo North, a country town 15 minutes north of Leongatha in the stunning Victorian Strzelecki Ranges. Grand Ridge uses only the highest quality ingredients (spring water, high quality hops, malt and yeast) to produce beers of exceptional flavour and purity.

Grand Ridge is at the top of the list in high quality beers. All the beers are produced to exceptionally high standards of flavour and purity, with no added chemicals or preservatives.  This typically results in a far less severe hangover, if any at all.

Lucinda Estate Winery

Lucinda Estate is located on the edge of Leongatha, where the grapes are grown and the wine made on site.

The vineyard was planted in the year 1990 on an easterly aspect. The soils are deep red clay loams with ancient volcanic loams with high ironstone content. The climate is cool and affords a long ripening, allowing for development of complex and flavorsome grapes, whilst retaining natural acidity. The vines are close planted with over 6000 vines to the hectare. This environment provides an ideal home for the winery’s principle varieties, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Djinta Djinta Winery

The 10.5-acre djinta djinta winery is nestled in the Strzelecki Ranges in between Korumburra and Leongatha, just off the South Gippsland Highway.  The Restaurant and Wines of Armour Room are within an attractive double-storey sandstone and wood homestead that has expansive views across the vineyard. Lazy days can be spent enjoying the seasonal menu and sampling the estate's cool climate wines surrounded by unspoilt countryside, clean air and panoramic scenery.

Coal Creek Village

Coal Creek Community Park and Museum - FREE ENTRY and unlimited fun for the whole family. Come along and ride the bush tramway, buy some old fashioned lollies from the general store, visit our friendly animals and feed the ducks too.
